The DECISION study is an exciting research project evaluating the effectiveness of what are known as ‘Mental Health Decision Units’ (Decision Units), funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR).
These units are hospital-based and offer an alternative to either being admitted to an inpatient ward or being discharged home for people in a mental health crisis.
While local evaluations have proved encouraging, DECISION is the first national, comprehensive study of their effectiveness.
Find out more about decision units and crisis care in our Health Services Research UK conference talk and presentation.
